Efigenia Cholula de Méndez

Efigenia Cholula Montesinos passed away on September 24, 2024, in East Chicago, IN, surrounded by her family at the age of 93.

 She was born in Tezoatlán de Segura y Luna, Oaxaca, on August 14, 1931, to +Miguel Cholula and +Marcelina Montesinos. Her adoptive parents were Francisco Herrera and Josefa Luna.

On May 13, 1954, Efigenia married +Miguel Angel Méndez Morales. Together, they raised six children: Gerardo (Guadalupe), Feliciano (Maria Guadalupe), Adamina (Pedro), Rosario (Francisco), +Miguel Angel, Jr. (Lupita), and Heladia (Juan Carlos).

With time the family grew, having 15 Grandchildren and 16 Great-Grandchildren. Efigenia had 4 sisters and 3 brothers, of which 1 sister and 2 brothers have sadly passed.

Efigenia would love doing word finds, gardening, painting, and cooking for her family. 

She was a strong-willed woman. As a friend, she was always by your side in the hardest of times. Efigenia will always be remembered for her sweet smile. She will truly be missed, but never forgotten.

A Mass will be held, Saturday, October 5th  at 1pm from St. Stanislaus Church, East Chicago with  Fr. Patrick Gaza officiating.

A Viewing will be at 12pm, 1 hour prior to Mass at the Church.

Efigenia will be buried in her beloved Oaxaca, Mexico.
