Guadalupe “Lupe” Vasquez

February 27, 1952-February 27, 2020 (age 68)

Guadalupe departed this life on her 68th birthday with her loving family by her side. 

Guadalupe was born and raised in East Chicago, IN.  She attended Washington High School.  She was a devoted mother and grandmother.  She had a big heart and giving spirit.  Not only did she raise her children, she also poured her love and nurturing spirit into her grandchildren and many others.  She was a dedicated and hardworking employee of Zel’s for 24 years. Her presence will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her. 

She leaves to cherish her memories, her four children Gus (Ekeisha) Herrera Jr. of Merrillville, IN , Antonio Herrera (Lisa Ivy), Tommy Talley, and Maria Talley all of East Chicago, IN; eight grandchildren Dyveon Whyte, Donye’ Whyte, Kamora Herrera, Jose Wash, Braylen Talley, Gus “Trey” Herrera III, Nehemiah Talley, and Antonio Talley; one sister Dolores Wilhelm of Phoenix, AZ;  one brother Anthony Vasquez of East Chicago, IN and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. 

She is preceded in death by her parents Antonio and Mary Vasquez, son Jose Herrera, brother Gilbert Vasquez and sister Mary “Pee-Wee” Vasquez.

Visitation will be held Friday, March 6, from 4-8 pm at The Acevez Funeral Home, 4918 Magoun Ave. East Chicago, IN.

Funeral Service will be Saturday, March 7, at 10 am to 12pm at Acevez Funeral Home

Burial will be at Ridgelawn Cemetery 4401 W. Ridge Rd.  Gary, IN 46408.

In lieu of flowers monetary donations to the family will be greatly appreciated.
