Jay Jordan Sheets

Jay Jordan Sheets, affectionately known as “Bird,” was born on August 15, 1996, in Munster, Indiana. He passed away on March 10, 2025, leaving behind cherished memories and a legacy of love that will resonate with all who knew him.

Jay was a devoted family member, beloved as a son, brother, uncle, nephew, and cousin. He is survived by his mother Sharon Lewin and stepfather Chris Lewin, his brother Milton Sheets V and sister-in-law Erica Emerson, his stepbrother Joshua Sharp and his adoring nieces and nephews—Rhylie, Kendall, Ryan, and Goku. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and his biological father, Milton Sheets IV.

A graduate of George Rogers Clark in 2012, Jay had a passion for driving his tow truck, which brought him joy and allowed him to connect with his community. Music was another significant part of his life; he loved playing his guitar and sharing moments filled with melody and laughter with his family.

Jay will be remembered for his gentle spirit and loving nature. Described as the most loving person one could meet, he had a soft-spoken demeanor that resonated warmth and compassion.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert and Bernardine Thompson (Grandma Bean), Carolyn Sheets (Mamaws), and Milton Sheets III (Papaw), as well as his sister, Hailey Sheets.

A memorial gathering in honor of Jay will be held on March 15, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Acevez Funeral Home in Hammond, Indiana. Friends and family are warmly invited to celebrate Jay’s life and share in the many memories that he created during his time with us. Following after services, We will have a celebration  of life for Jay with dinner and drinks from 5pm-11pm at Moose Lodge 7500 IN—912 Hammond Indiana 46323
