Jorge B. Lopez, age 72, passed away peacefully Sunday, June 14, 2020.
He was born May 27, 1948 in San Francisco del Rincón, Guanajuato. He married his longtime partner and love, Natalia C. Lopez, in August of 1972. Jorge was an admirable husband, father, brother, friend, neighbor and father figure to many. Any individual that came across his path could attest to how wonderful and amazing of a man he was.
He was self-less and humble to many that he would even give you the shoes off his feet if you were in need. Jorge was the epitome of a hard-working man. For 20 years, Jorge worked at Inland Steel in East Chicago, IN. He came from his hometown in Mexico to the United States and came to work hard to provide a better future for his wife and family. However, he faced medical hardships and faced a disability that led to his early retirement but his passion and love to work didn’t halt there. He continued working hard at home that demonstrated his talents and admirable abilities.
He always stated the following: “A mi no me gusta la gente floja,” meaning, “I don’t like lazy people.” He lived by that statement throughout his life. He never stopped working and not even to catch a break in 100 degree weather. He was a man of his word and once he started something, he didn’t stop until he finished. His driven determination to continuously work on projects, crafts, house and yard work, plumbing, mechanical and much more; demonstrated his numerous talents and gifts that portrayed through his hard work. Jorge was the epitome of a lover, giver, and survivor.
He suffered throughout his life after facing medical hardships but never complained to others throughout his life. This hindered his ability to continue forward and faced various obstacles. One of the many being food. Throughout his life, Jorge created numerous dishes that he personally created for others to enjoy. He was incapable of indulging his own meals which didn’t allow for him to taste how great his meals were.
Although he never tasted the food he cooked, it brought him joy for others to taste and teach his delicious dishes for others to enjoy.
