Jose "Joe" "Lupe" Flores

Joe age 90 of Hammond passed away peacefully Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at WJ Riley Residence, Munster. Preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Pauline (Miramontes) Flores. Preceded in death by his sisters: Rita (Henry) Vargas, Maria de Rodrigo “Ligo” Flores, Petra (Marcelo) Rosas, Maria de Refugio “Cuca” (Ramiro) Molina, Concepcion “Concha” (Benedict) Sanchez, Genoveva Flores. He is survived by children: Xavi/Frank (Mary) Flores, Sylvia Flores, Daniel (Carol) Flores, and Ernesto “Ernie” Flores. Grandchildren: Joseph (Armandina) Flores and Eric Flores. Great grandchildren: Olivia, Vanessa, and Diego Flores. Many special cousins, nieces, and nephews. Special brother-in-law Joe “Chema” Miramontes and Compadre Alfonso P. Vega. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Monday, December 4, 2017 at St. Casimir Church 4340 Johnson Ave. Hammond, IN at 11:00am, with Rev. Eduardo Malagon officiating. Prayers will begin at 10am from Acevez Funeral Home before going to Church. Visitation will be held Sunday, December 3, 2017 from 2 to 7pm at Acevez Funeral Home, 4918 Magoun Ave. East Chicago, IN. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Hammond. Joe was born in Realitos, Texas and formerly of the Indiana Harbor and Gary Brunswick areas. He was a North Hammond resident for the last 47 years and retired from Standard Forgings with 35 years of service. Joe was a World War II veteran and served in Germany. He was also a member of the Indiana Harbor Old Timers Club. Joe was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who will be deeply missed.

There is road construction on Magoun Avenue , but access to Funeral Home is available, also Parking at St. Stan's lot is available at the corners of 150th and Magoun Ave.
