It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Margaret Corralez, who departed this life on March 20, 2025, in Highland, Indiana. Born on November 12, 1947, in Chicago, Illinois, Margaret was a beacon of kindness and warmth to all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Margaret’s life was one dedicated to family and community. She possessed an unwavering spirit, marked by her strong faith and trust in the Lord, which guided her through life’s challenges with remarkable resilience. Her radiant smile had the remarkable ability to light up any room, making everyone feel welcomed and valued.

She cherished her time spent watching her grandkids play baseball, always the proud grandmother cheering from the sidelines. The holidays were particularly special to Margaret, where she reveled in the joy of whipping up her beloved buñuelos for family gatherings. These memories of togetherness and joy will be treasured by her loved ones.

Margaret is survived by her devoted husband of 57 years, David Corralez, her sister Linda Haluska(Tom) and their six children: David Jr. Corralez (Robin), Elise Adams (Shawn), Albert Corralez, Peter Corralez (Helen), Francisco Corralez, and Aaron Corralez (Jennifer). She was a loving grandmother to eight grandchildren: Coleen Adams, Carissa Adams, Christopher Corralez, Jacob Corralez, Kayla (step-granddaughter), Elianna Corralez, Noah (step-grandson), and Samuel Corralez. Additionally, she is remembered by her three great-grandchildren: Aidan, Malakai, and Kaylea.

Margaret was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Albert Lira and Manu Lira, who undoubtedly welcomed her with open arms.

The services to honor Margaret's life will be held at Acevez Funeral Home in Hammond, Indiana. Visitation will take place on March 27, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM. A viewing will follow on March 28, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, leading into a Mass at St. Casimir Church at 11:00 AM. Margaret will then be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery in Portage, Indiana, beginning at 12:45 PM.

Margaret Corralez's legacy of kindness, love, and resilience will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends. She will be dearly missed but fondly remembered for the light she brought into our lives.
