Mariano Ramirez Sr.

Mariano Ramirez 90, of East Chicago IN. Born in New Mexico passed away on Thursday November 4th, 2021 at his home surrounded by family.

Survived by his children: Manuel (Lisa) Larranaga of New Jersey, Armando (Gabriela) Ramirez of California, Mariano Jr (Yvette) Ramirez of Munster, Olga (Arturo) of Lake Station, Ebeline Ramirez of East Chicago. Grandchildren: Jackie, Manuel Jr. and Michelle, Marissa (Jason), Gabriela (Andre), Armando Jr (Jennifer), Steven (Brittany), Miranda, Juliana, Michael, Yelitza (Julio), Jose-Vidal and 9 great grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his beloved wife Celia, son Mariano, parents Vidal and Francisca Ramirez, and his sister Juanita Perales.
Mr. Ramirez was a migrant worker in California before moving to Indiana. He was a resident of East Chicago for more than 50 years.

He was a railroad switchman for some years before becoming employed at Inland Steel. Mariano retired from Inland Steel. He enjoyed bartending, fishing, repairing TV's/radios, and playing pool. He was awarded quite a few trophies while being in Pool leagues. His home became home to many friends and even strangers.

He was a very loving, giving and caring husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He will be dearly missed forever.

Services will be on Monday, November 8, 2021 and will start at 10 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Irvin Ochoa (SDA) officiating at Acevez Funeral Home 4918 Magoun Ave, East Chicago, IN. with burial to follow at Ridgelawn Cemetery Gary, Indiana.
