Mateo Gaeta Perez Obituary

Mateo Gaeta Perez passed peacefully the afternoon of Thursday, December 12, 2024, at the age of 80, 

with the love of his family surrounding him. 

Mateo was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother.

Woodwork, masonry, and being a crafty pool shark were some of his hobbies. He

enjoyed gardening with his wife and had a green thumb in growing hot peppers.

He loved his Chicago Cubs and was thrilled in 2016 to watch them finally win a

championship after so many years, cheers, tears, and beers. He loved listening

to Vincente Fernandez and had a premonition he would pass on the same day. He

always enjoyed a cold “refreshment” to accompany everything he was doing.

Mateo will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 54 years, Maria Lopez de Perez;

children, Javier, Christina, Lus ( Luis M.), Jaime (Theresa R.); grandchildren,

Noemi, Cesar, Junior, Michael, Mya, Christian, Jay (Jr.), Jessica, Veronica,

Adriana, Andres, and Selena; great grandchildren Jayden and Lyric; siblings

Ramon, Jose, Felimon, Enedina, and numerous other family members and

friends.

Mateo was preceded in death by his parents Reynaldo and Maria (Gaeta) Perez,

and by his sibling Fedinco Perez.

The family would like to thank the St. Catherine Hospital staff and Hospice of the

Calumet Region staff for their support.

Funeral services will be private to the immediate family and will be held on

Tuesday, December 17, 2024.
