Oscar Chapa

Oscar Chapa    January 5, 1945 – June 26, 2023

Oscar Chapa 78, passed away to his eternal home in heaven on Monday, June 26, 2023.

Oscar is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years Isabel, his daughter Angie (Anthony) Chapa-Medrano, his two sons Oscar and Mario Chapa, brother Omar (Joanne) Chapa, his sister-in-law Rose Chapa and brother-in-law Juan Garza, numerous nieces and nephews, and his companion dog Clark.

Oscar was born in Parras, Nuevo Leon Mexico.   Preceded in death by his parents Homero and Maria, his two brothers Homero and Horacio and sister Bertha Garza.   

Oscar was raised in East Chicago and attended Washington High School and Ivy Tech.   He retired from LTV Steel with 33 years of service.  He was an active member of Northgate Church and enjoyed reading his bible.   Oscar enjoyed karate, exercising, and a healthy lifestyle.  He loved spending time with his family whether it was watching a movie or gathering for dinner.  He will always be remembered by his laughter and faith in God.   He will be truly missed until we see him again.

Visitation for Oscar will be held Thursday, July 6, 2023 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Acevez Funeral Home 4404 Cameron Ave in Hammond, IN 46327 with Pastor Joey Miranda at 6:00 pm. 

On Friday, July 7, 2023 at Northgate Church 2820 165^th St. in Hammond, IN 46323  Viewing from 9:00 am to 10:00 am.   Followed by Celebration of Life Service at 10:00 am with Minister Mario Chapa.  

Burial immediately following at Ridge Lawn Cemetery 4401 W. Ridge Rd in Gary, IN 46408 with Pastor Erasmo Miranda.
