Paul Phillip Zarowny, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, passed away suddenly on December 5, 2024, at Community Hospital in Munster, Indiana. Born on February 4, 1947, in Hammond, Indiana, Paul was the beloved son of Stanley and Marian (nee Evans) Zarowny.
Paul graduated from Hammond Tech in 1965 and enlisted in the Air Force in 1966, serving as a Weapons Control System Mechanic. After his honorable service, he embarked on a long career as a steelworker, retiring from ArcelorMittal in 2009. He was a member of the United Steelworkers Local 1010.
On September 4, 1971, Paul married the love of his life, Marilyn (nee Wilczynski) Zarowny. Together, they built a family filled with love and laughter. He is survived by his devoted wife Marilyn, his loving daughters Nicole (Chris) Janovsky and Tiffany Zarowny, and his cherished grandson Preston Janovsky. Paul also leaves behind his sisters Kathe (Chuck) Dotson, Laura (Paul) Gerrity, and Debbie Dijak, along with numerous cousins, nephews, and nieces.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Marian Zarowny, and his daughter Noelle Zarowny. He was an active member of the Griffith Chapter of the Izaak Walton League of America, where he served as a board member and Sergeant of Arms. Paul was passionate about teaching trap shooting, fishing, archery, and meeting new people. Known for his vibrant personality, he was loved by many and will be dearly missed by all who knew him. As he would always say "I am my own party".
Friends and family are invited to gather at Acevez Funeral Home, 4404 Cameron Ave., Hammond, Indiana, on Wednesday, December 11, from 2:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 12, at 9:00 A.M., followed by a Mass at 10:00 A.M. at St. Casimir Church, 4340 Johnson Ave., Hammond, Indiana. Burial will take place at St. John and St. Joseph Cemetery, 1547 167th St., Hammond, Indiana.
