Ramiro "Speedy" Sandoval Jr.

With heavy hearts, we announce that Ramiro Sandoval Jr., affectionately known as “Speedy,” age 66, of Whiting, IN, passed away on Tuesday, April 2, 2025. Speedy was born in Chicago, IL in 1958. After spending most his life in Chicago, his last home was in Whiting, IN close to work and family.

He loved to work on cars and machinery. After graduating from St. Francis DeSales High School he held several jobs including a short stint as a car mechanic. He spent some time working for Republic Steel and American Juice finally finding his place at Paket Corporation as a Facilities Maintenance Mechanic. He spent the last 23 years of his career at Paket, retiring in August 2023.

Speedy was always available to repair or build something for family & friends. If he did not have the right tool, he would somehow create it. You just knew he was going to make it work. He might have been a little grumpy while doing it, but it got done. We all knew just to smile and would sometimes laugh as the expletives were flying. Speedy was able to enjoy many celebrations with family and take memorable trips with his cousins, including one incredibly special cousin, Jesse, who was also his best friend.

He is preceded in death by his parents Elvira Sandoval (Garcia) and Ramiro Sandoval T. He is survived by his sister Laura Patzsch (Sandoval), brother-in-law Edward G. Patzsch, nieces Alexandria and Emily Patzsch, and grandniece Addison Chebro. He was a devoted son to his parents, a loving brother to his sister and the sweetest uncle to his nieces. He was loved by many and will live on in our hearts forever.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, April 16th from 10AM-12PM at Acevez Funeral Home, 4404 Cameron Ave, Hammond IN.
