Randolph "Randy" M. Plys, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on February 4, 2025, at St. Catherine’s. Born on February 13, 1950, in Hammond, Indiana, Randy was a vibrant spirit with a deep love for his family and community.
He leaves behind his beloved wife of 54 years, Martha, and their children Scott, Shelly (fiancée Dan), and Sarah (son-in-law Jimmy). Randy was a proud grandfather to Tristen, Abigail, and J.J., who will always remember him as a loving and devoted figure in their lives.
Randy had a passion for cooking, and he took immense joy in preparing delightful meals for holidays that brought his family together. He was an enthusiastic hunter and fisherman, relishing the time spent outdoors and sharing those experiences with others. An ardent supporter of Notre Dame sports, Randy also contributed to the community as an active member of the Hammond Mohawks, where he could often be found cooking for various events.
Randy is reunited in spirit with his late parents, Albert and Patricia Plys, as well as his brother, Russell Plys. Their love and memories will always remain close to the hearts of those he left behind.
A visitation to celebrate Randy's life will take place on February 11, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Acevez Funeral Home in Hammond, Indiana.
The Hammond Mohawks will conduct a service at 4:45pm Tuesday at the Funeral Home.
Randy's legacy of love, laughter, and culinary delight will continue to inspire those who had the privilege to know him. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all whose lives he touched.
